The competition adds to a growing portfolio of multimedia research outputs launched by cities@manchester. Laura Partridge, Coordinator of cities@manchester, said of the competition “we are always seeking to disseminate research in innovative ways and visual communication in particular offers so much potential in terms of broadening engagement and impact. We've run similar activities in the past using social media and photography - this is the first time we’ve applied animation to a competition, but given its success it probably won’t be the last!”.
Dr Deljana Iossifova, Lecturer in Urban Studies in the School of Environment, Education & Development, said on hearing that she was one of the winners: “I entered the Animated Urbanism competition because it seemed like an excellent opportunity to make research fun and accessible to everyone. The clip makes it easy to introduce my work in a light and engaging way to a range of audiences. I look forward to more of this in the future!”.
