Charlotte's down in the dark for charity on Halloween

Charlotte Hooson-Sykes from the School of Physics and Astronomy could spend the night of Friday, 31 October locked underground - unless you rescue her by donating to charity Forever Manchester
Charlotte, who works as Executive Assistant to Professor Kostya Novoselov and Professor Andre Geim, will join five other fundraisers (including some celebrities) in an underground vault in the former Lloyd's Bank building at 6pm on Halloween.
Charlotte's companions will be: Brooke Vincent (Coronation Street), Mellissa Travis (ITV2’s Girlfriends), Sam Booth (Future Pro Manchester), Hattie Pearson (XFM DJ and University of Manchester alumna) and Denise Evans (MEN).
Cut off from the outside world and in pitch darkness, the group will work with ghostbuster Stuart Marshall to investigate paranormal activity deep underground and find out exactly what or who has been haunting the tunnels in the heart of the city.
Each participant has opened a JustGiving charity account and is begging friends, colleagues and family to donate to Forever Manchester - because those who raise the most money will escape the Hellhole most quickly and will be whisked away to a Halloween Ball at St Peter’s Church, Ancoats.
Forever Manchester is a local charity, which has been around for the last 25 years, funding and supporting community groups and projects across the Manchester region. It has been involved in a massive variety of projects, from food banks to community cafes, from play club and breakfast schemes, to dementia and children's sports projects.
Charlotte said: "I love that you can see their work in action. Most recently they’ve helped fund a community café in Stretford near me, which is open to anyone, and people can pay what they can afford – vastly helping those struggling with food poverty in our area, which is sadly on the increase.
"I have to keep reminding myself the Lockdown is for charity: the last person left in the vault will be there alone for 30 minutes and I’d really rather it wasn’t me! Please, please give generously."
