Professor Aneez Esmail makes Health Service Journal Clinical Leaders List
23 Oct 2014
Professor Aneez Esmail from the Institute of Population Health has been included in a list of 100 outstanding healthcare professionals whose impact extends beyond their professional sphere
Professor Esmail, who is Professor of General Practice in the Institute, is named on the list, which celebrates those working in healthcare who not only excel in their professional specialism but whose impact extends beyond their professional sphere and has an impact and influence on health policy, service transformation and innovation.
The list was announced on 22 October 2014 by HSJ in partnership with Veredus. Around 60 clinical leaders and guests attended a private reception to network and celebrate their success.
HSJ invited readers to name those they thought the judges should consider. Nominations were accepted both via Twitter and via hsj.co.uk. A panel of expert judges were asked to review the long list and add suggestions of their own.
The reception was hosted by Alastair McLellan, Editor of HSJ, who said “For all the clinical leaders, their clinical backgrounds are vital to the decisions they make, even if the job they are doing is far removed from clinical practice. Some are well known, others much less so but HSJ fully expects the choices to spark debate about the changing nature of clinical leadership and influence within healthcare.”
