Lord Speaker discusses role of the Lords in scrutinising media

Members of staff are invited to join the Lord Speaker Baroness D'Souza and guests at a free event, to discuss the work of the House of Lords, and the ways in which its Members of the House scrutinise media and communications issues
Members of the House of Lords boast expertise from a range of media and communications backgrounds and their expertise is used to scrutinise the government’s work. The event on 16 October will see the Lord Speaker outline the work done by the House, followed by an audience-led discussion.
The Lord Speaker will be joined by Arif Ansari, BBC North West Political Editor (Event Chair), and Professor Tom Gibbons from The School of Law, former advisor to House of Lords scrutiny committees.
The event takes places in University Place, Lecture Theatre A on Thursday, 16 October (7-8.30pm (registration from 6.30pm). Refreshments will be available.
