Discussion on sustainability in the curriculum

The University’s Sustainability in the Curriculum Community of Practice is hosting a talk with Professor Walter Leal entitled ‘Some of the challenges (and potentials) in incorporating sustainability in the curriculum’. The talk will be followed by an open discussion of points raised.

Professor Leal is Director of the Research and Transfer Centre “Applications of Life Sciences” at the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences and a Professor of Environment and Technology at Manchester Metropolitan University.

In 2009, he created the International Climate Change Information Programme (ICCIP), a programme on climate change education, information and communication, running the online climate conference series. He teaches on environmental information, education, communication and management issues at various European universities.

He is also the editor of the journals ‘Management of Environmental Quality’, the ‘International Journal of Innovation and Sustainable Development’ and founding editor of the ‘International Journal of Sustainability in Higher Education’, the ‘International Journal of Environment and Sustainable Development’ and the ‘International Journal of Climate Change Strategies and Management’.

Professor Leal has extensive experience with European funding programmes and the management of large interdisciplinary research projects.
