Diversion of 147 bus and general traffic during road re-surfacing
07 Oct 2014
Now that Oxford Road has re-opened, the re-surfacing of Upper Brook Street has begun again as part of the Bus Priority Scheme works, resulting in diversion of the 147 bus and other traffic
147 bus diversion
The northbound carriageway of Upper Brook Street will be closed for three weeks from Monday, 6 October until Monday, 27 October.
During this period, the 147 bus will exit the Hospital site onto Hathersage Road and travel straight across the Upper Brook Street junction to Plymouth Grove.
At this point, it will turn left and left again onto Grafton Street, re-joining the scheduled route at the Grafton Street/Upper Brook Street junction.
No other parts of the route will be affected. Minor delays are expected to the service.
General traffic diversion
On weekdays, while the section of Upper Brook Street between Grafton Street and Hathersage Road is re-surfaced, the southbound carriageway will be open to general traffic and northbound traffic will be diverted.
Additional works will take place in the area on the following weekends:
- 11/12 October: Grafton Street (westbound lane)
- 18/19 October: Hathersage Road/Upper Brook Street junction (eastbound lane)
- 25/26 October: Hathersage Road/Upper Brook Street junction (westbound lane)
New online Bus Tracker
During the road works, or at any time, this great new tool can improve your journey experience by showing you the whereabouts of the 147 buses on the route (please note that the data is not real time - the information delay is around three minutes). The system was kindly developed by IT Services at the University.
You can access the Tracker on your PC or smartphone at:
- Route 147 (click on ‘Bus Tracker’)
You can also use the website for service updates.
