Two more Athena SWAN Awards under our belt

Now fourteen Schools carry honour for their commitment to the recruitment, retention and progression of women
We are delighted to announce two new Athena SWAN awards for our STEMM Schools
The prestigious Silver Award goes to Manchester Pharmacy School who have demonstrated that, since their Bronze Award in April 2012, they have embedded a real culture change across their School. Good practice has resulted in the significant improvements in the progression and development opportunities for women at all career stages.
A Bronze Award goes to the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering who have identified their own challenges and they have planned activities which will advance the representation of women in their subject.
The Athena SWAN Charter is owned by the Equality Challenge Unit. The awards recognise and celebrate good practice in recruiting, retaining and promoting women in science, technology, engineering, mathematics and medicine (STEMM) in academia.
These latest awards takes the University’s total to 14 Schools; four with Silver awards and 10 with Bronze.
Dr Helen Ryder, University Athena SWAN Coordinator, said: “Huge congratulations to MPS and EEE in the achievement of their awards. The Athena SWAN Charter has, and will continue to have, a positive impact on changing the culture and attitudes across the University”.
