Your Wellbeing sessions have a temporary new location
16 Sep 2014
From Monday, 22 September, there'll be a new place for you to re-charge or relax in the Precinct Centre
In October 2006 the Lewis library in the Dover Street Building was refurbished and transformed into the Wellbeing room for the Counselling Service and Sport to run a programme of group work sessions and wellbeing activities.
In the years since then the Wellbeing programme has grown and developed. As well as a full Wellbeing programme each term, there have been regular Wellbeing days as well as Wellbeing weeks.
For many of us (staff and students alike), the Wellbeing Rooms - two further rooms were appropriated over the years - have become a place where we can re-charge and take positive steps towards looking after our physical and mental health, or simply somewhere to wind down away from our busy and often stressful lives. We could come to take part in a class or just relax in the Chill-Out Room.
The good news is that all the best things about the Dover Street Wellbeing Rooms (including, of course, the very popular beanbags) are now moving to some newly-refurbished rooms in the Precinct Centre. The new rooms are centrally located and there will be the full programme of courses and classes.
As well as classes offered by sport such as yoga, Pilates and tai chi, there will be classes offering stress – relieving hypnotherapy sessions, sessions on how to learn to sleep better, sessions on how to make changes using solution-focused brief therapy as well as a lunchtime group for staff, Actively Managing Your Mood.
The first classes will start in the Precinct Centre Wellbeing Rooms during the week beginning 22 September.
Why not try the mindfulness and relaxation weekly drop-in sessions? No registration is needed – you can just turn up. All mindfulness and relaxation sessions are for staff and students.

- Tuesdays (1-2pm) - Relaxation
- Wednesdays (5-6pm) - Mindfulness meditation
