What's on for students in Welcome Week
11 Sep 2014
The University have been working in partnership with the Students’ Union to organise a number of activities and events for students during Orientation and Welcome (Thursday, 11 September to Friday, 19 September)
The majority of events are open to all students, new or returning, undergraduate or postgraduate, home and international. Students may require tickets for some of the events so please direct them to the What’s On Guide or view the online event list to find out more:
The events are split into four themes, each aimed at helping student to settle into, or settle back into, life at Manchester and find their feet. Here is a round-up of some of the key events from each theme:
Learn
An opportunity for students to indulge their interests or learn something new from two of the University’s most distinguished lecturers. Lectures include Hunting Dinosaurs in the 21st Century by Professor Phil Manning Protecting Civil Liberties, Promoting Human Rights by Professor Shami Chakrabarti CBE.
Inform
Students can find out about the many University support services, clubs and societies and liberation groups at events like the Start of Year Fair, the Student Fair and the Sports Fair.
Fun
From Zombie disco to daily film screening and BBQ’s to theatre performances there are lots of events to keep students entertained and help them meet new people.
Explore
Many students won’t be familiar with the campus or the city so encourage them to take one of the many tours that are running all week.
