Karan O'Hagan, Administrator in the University Language Centre, has achieved a 2:1 BA honours degree in History from the Open University
Congratulations to Karan O'Hagan, Administrator in the University Language Centre, on achieving BA Honours Degree in History, classification 2:1. Karan studied part-time for six years with the Open University and will graduate in October at the Bridgewater Hall.
She found the combination of full-time work and part-time undergraduate study challenging and advises anyone who is considering part-time study that they definitely need to be able to organise their time effectively.
Karan said: "Even though I’ve had to work in the evenings and weekends for six years to complete the course, I thoroughly enjoyed taking the history modules, learning about events in the past and how they have shaped modern society. It has given me a greater understanding of the world and its complexities. A lot of hard work and determination was needed to undertake the course, but after achieving this I know that I can succeed in anything I set my mind to.
"Special thanks to STDU for their financial support over the last two years and to Mark Epstein in the University Language Centre for his tutorials on academic writing."
