University goes 'All Out' for Manchester Pride Parade

Cheer on our entry to a third successive prize as they walk through the city centre on Saturday, 23 August

On Saturday, 23 August, the University will once again take part in the Manchester Pride Parade – a colourful celebration of LGBT life in the City.

Organised by the LGBT Staff Network Group ‘All Out’, 80 members of staff, students, alumni and friends will take part in the walking entry to celebrate the theme of ‘Love’. The entry will feature the University’s electric pool car, a bicycle and an electric estates vehicle to show our commitment to sustainability and the environment. Walkers will also proudly display what they love about the University and what the University loves about them!

Everyone is welcome to watch the parade which starts from 1pm at the Liverpool Road junction with Deansgate. Come along with your family and freinds to cheer on our entry to win a prize for the third year in a row.

Network group member Stephen Johnston said: “The Manchester Pride Parade is a fantastic opportunity for the University to celebrate what a diverse place it is to work, study and visit and it is great that we have many non-LGBT people taking part in our entry this year. It would be great to see many familiar faces along the route cheering us on.”

The parade route will go down Deansgate and turn right on to John Dalton Street and past the Town Hall at Albert Square. It will then continue on to Princess Street before turning left on to Whitworth Street and finishing outside the Sackville Street Building.
