University Charity Bake-Off - calling all cake makers!
15 Aug 2014
The School of Arts, Languages and Cultures invites you to take part in special charity bake-off event on 30 September in the Students' Union
SALC are looking for talented and ambitious bakers from University staff, students and alumni who would like to take part in their Charity Bake-Off, raising money for Fareshare Manchester, a charity which provides vitally needed meals, food parcels and snacks to hundreds of disadvantaged people every day.
If you are a budding Mary Berry or could give Paul Hollywood a run for his money then this is the star baker challenge for you! There needs to be around 30-40 cakes in total covering the following categories:-
- Sweet treats
- Chocolate
- Fruit/vegetables (which ties in with the Fareshare theme)
- Alcholic based (my personal favourite!)
- Cheesecakes
- Vegan/gluten free
Your cakelicious offerings will then be judged by:
- Abigail Saffer (@_abisaffer) - a keen baker and organiser of previous cake tasting events, classes and workshops
- Charlotte-Hooson-Sykes (@The_Lady_Sybil) - a well-known Manchester food and drink blogger
- Debbie Halls-Evans (@homeofrealfood) - winner of The Taste
- Miranda Kaunang - from Fareshare
- Gethin Sherrington - who runs The University of Manchester’s Student’s Baking Society
Prizes will all be food/cake based (of course!) and all money raised on the night will be donated to Fareshare.
Want to take part or attend?
