Safety advice for August fire strikes

The Fire Brigades Union (FBU) has announced that its members in England and Wales will take further strike action between 9 and 16 August
Fire and Rescue Sevices in England and Wales will take strike action strike on the following dates:
- Saturday, 9 August: 12–2pm and 10.59pm–11.59pm
- Sunday, 10 August: 12–2pm and 10.59pm–11.59pm
- Monday, 11 August: 12–2pm and 10.59pm–11.59pm
- Tuesday, 12 August: 12–2pm and 10.59pm–11.59pm
- Wednesday, 13 August 12–2pm and 10.59pm–11.59pm
- Thursday, 14 August: 12–2pm and 10.59pm–11.59pm
- Friday, 15 August: 12–2pm and 10.59pm–11.59pm
- Saturday, 16 August: 12–2pm and 10.59pm–11.59pm

General fire safety advice during a fire strike
The strike action limits fire engine availability and fire crews may not be trained to the same level as normal.
- Keep escape routes free from obstacles
- Keep fire doors shut
- Switch off any electrical equipment when not in use
- Know your emergency escape route
- If you have a fire, “Get Out, Stay Out” and call University Security on extension 69966
- Think about road safety
