FMHS Senior Leadership Team become Dementia Friends
03 Jun 2014
The Faculty of Medical and Human Sciences Senior leadership team recently undertook a Dementia Friends training session delivered by Professor Alistair Burns, Vice Dean for Clinical Affairs and National Clinical Director for Dementia, NHS England
The leadership team undertook the training to support the University’s Dementia Friends programme, one of the University's Social Responsibility flagship programmes, which aims to recruit and train 30 Dementia Champions by the end of the 2014 academic year and 1,000 Dementia Friends by August 2015.
Director of Faculty Operations, Kay Day said: "As the Faculty leading on this initiative for the University, we felt very strongly that we should support this by becoming Dementia Friends. Research on dementia is a priority area for MHS and we are also extremely fortunate to have Professor Alistair Burns, who is responsible for providing clinical advice on dementia and related issues to NHS England, as our Vice-Dean, and so we are keen for this initiative to be a success for the University."
