Caring couple fundraise in tribute to friend
St Ann’s Hospice provides care and support to people with life-limiting illnesses, their families and carers in Greater Manchester. Through the generosity of supporters, all care is provided free of charge and makes a real difference to those who the Hospice supports.
On Friday 20 June, Annie Harrison, Research Assistant, and her partner Bob Gaunt, will be joining Lindsay Rigby’s Northern Stars on the St Ann’s Hospice 10K Manchester Midnight Walk. Lindsay Rigby, a friend of Annie and Bob, is under the care of the Hospice as she is suffering from Motor Neurone Disease.
Annie and Bob said, “When Annie's mum was too ill to be looked after at home, she went to St Ann's Hospice where she and the family were cared for until she died. When Annie's dad was at the end of his life, the staff at St Ann's gave him the support he needed to spend his last days at home. Now St Ann's is caring for our good friend Lindsay, and we are honoured to be able to raise money for this wonderful place.”
The Walk
The Manchester Midnight Walk starts from Manchester Central, with the venue opening from 9pm so walkers can enjoy the evening’s entertainment, decorate their official t-shirts and collect goodie bags full of supplies to help them on their way.
At the heart of the walk there is a Garden of Remembrance, where candles can be lit and messages left in memory of someone close.
