Adam wins international Blackboard award

Senior Lecturer in Economics, Adam Ozanne, has highlighted the positive work going on in the School of Social Sciences by winning the Blackboard Catalyst Awards' Exemplary Course Award.

The international Exemplary Course Award recognises faculty and course designers around the world who develop exciting and innovative courses that represent the very best in technology and learning. Courses are evaluated in four major areas (Course Design, Interaction & Collaboration, Assessment and Learner Support) by a peer group of Blackboard clients, a Reviewer Council, and Directors.

Adam won the award for his Introductory Mathematics course. This is provided for first year BAEcon (and related Social Sciences) students, whose previous mathematics qualification is GCSE or equivalent – many will not have studied mathematics for at least two years prior to joining Manchester.

Adam’s will be the third time this award has been given to a UK instructor. Drew Whitworth, from the School of Environment, Education and Development (SEED) also won the award in 2012.

Adam recently achieved 25 years' service with the University. He was awarded the Manchester Teaching Award for SoSS in 2011-12 and received a “commendation” in the university-wide 2011-12 Teaching Excellence Awards, as well as being nominated by his students for several other awards.
