Medical and Human Sciences improving Faculty communication

In an effort to improve communication following the results of the Staff Survey 2013, the Faculty of Medical and Human Sciences have made significant changes to their internal communications, beginning with a rationalisation of core channels.

The core communication channels have been streamlined, resulting in the development of a weekly eNewsletter, ‘MHS Matters’, sent to all Faculty PSS and academic staff, which receives consistently high views each week.  Carrying operational and ‘nice to know’ information, this update has reduced the volume of non-urgent emails and announcements throughout the Faculty as staff now recognise this as a core channel for them to get their message across.

An online feedback facility has been developed, and widely advertised to staff, on the Faculty intranet and on MHS Matters. This provides both academic and PSS staff the opportunity to feedback to the Senior Leadership on any aspect of activity that is communicated within MHS.

An intranet review project is also being undertaken, in consultation with MHS staff, to increase relevancy of content and accessibility and ensure that this is a more effective communication channel.  

Also, a series of inaugural lectures, given by new academic appointments, are now being delivered to both PSS and academic staff, which are filmed and made available on the intranet. This increased accessibility has helped to increase uptake amongst all staff and increase awareness of MHS activity amongst internal staff.
