At around 5:05pm on Tuesday 22nd April, in this location, a University staff member was approached by two men, one armed with a small barrelled hand gun. Demands were made by these men who stole personal items including mobile phone, cards and cash. The staff member was unhurt.

The University security team are advising staff and students to use the preferred route via the Mancunian Way underpass from the Oxford Rd campus to North campus or to use the 147 bus service, free to all University staff and students.
GMP have also issued further security advice including if using your phone in public, stay alert and be aware of your surroundings; register your phone for free on the Immobilise website, which helps police to identify you as the owner and return your handset if lost or stolen; use security or PIN locks to protect your data and prevent the phone being used if stolen; and ensure you keep a record of your IMEI – you will need this if your phone is lost or stolen (your network will provide this free of charge or if you have the phone, enter *#06# into your keypad).
