Edinburgh Zombies are invading Manchester!

LAStheatre is bringing its award winning experimental Edinburgh Theatre/Science show ‘The Enlightenment Café: Deadinburgh’ to the Manchester Science Festival this autumn and is looking for collaborators
This event introduces the theatre audience to the worlds of epidemiology and biomedical science by bringing together professional actors and scientists to solve the problem of a zombie epidemic infecting the city!
The audience meets genuine scientists using real science to solve a fictitious disease, with actors playing the infected hordes and besieged soldiers. It’s a race against time for them to decide, based on the information they glean from the play, as to whether to destroy the city, cull the infected or search for a cure.
After a hugely successful run in Edinburgh, LAStheatre is now bringing the show to the Manchester Science Festival and are looking for collaborators to work alongside a team from Manchester Metropolitan University for a follow on, Manchester based, zombie invasion.
Andy Franzkowiak, Creative Producer with LAStheatre explains, “The Edinburgh show sold out to 250 each night over 4 nights, plus a schools performance and gave 7 different biomedical science facilities the chance to demonstrate their work, all within a show that gave audiences a glimpse of how science and society deal with outbreaks. We had neuroscientists, microbiologists, epidemiologists, psychiatrists, engineers and mathematicians delivery parts of the show, all integral to the theatre.”
Andy is now looking for scientists, research groups or institutions across the Biomedical Sciences that would like to get involved in creating this immersive theatre project, in particular, those based in the North West.
