Beware of scam e-mails using Professor Nancy Rothwell’s name

‘Phishers’ are sending out these e-mails in an attempt to obtain your University username and password
If you have recently received an e-mail purporting to come from Professor Nancy Rothwell’s personal e-mail address, with the subject line ‘Salary Increment’, please be aware that this is a scam or ‘phishing’ e-mail and that you should not respond to it in any way.
The sender (or ‘phisher’) is attempting to collect your University username and password by sending an email pretending to be from a trusted sender. ‘Phishers’ ask for this information by sending a carefully prepared and apparently genuine message from a well-known member of staff using a familiar email address.
The email message will either ask you to reply, or will have an attachment that when opened will present a form which you are asked to fill in, enclosing information such as your username, password, and sometimes other personal information, indicating that if you don’t respond, your account will be deleted or disabled.
These messages are all fakes and never originate from any member of staff or customer services group at the University. You should forward them to phishing@listserv.manchester.ac.uk, carefully following the instructions in the link below, and then delete them. You should never open any attachments and never respond to them.
