Staff Portal is changing – new look ‘My Manchester’ on the way
02 Apr 2014
The current Staff Portal will reveal a new look from Wednesday, 9 April.
The updated ‘My Manchester’ takes all of the existing Staff Portal information and combines this with some new tools, along with news feeds from StaffNet. Even if you’ve never accessed Staff Portal previously, take a look from 9 April and you may be surprised at what it can offer!
When accessed, the system will default to a persona view based on your role: either Academic or PSS. This allows for some of the content and links to be better tailored to your needs – for example, the ‘Academic’ persona immediately presents a link to ‘My Research Students’ to access the eProg system.
The search functionality allows you to enter a single term to search across a variety of resources at once; including Staff Directory, StaffNet, Library, IT Knowledge Base and the University website in general. There is also a new feature, giving you the option of making your photograph visible alongside your name and other contact details within My Manchester, should you wish to do so.
Other key features include the ability to customise content by showing and hiding links, as well as creating ‘favourites’. There is also a task accumulator which will indicate a reminder of outstanding tasks you may have within Oracle Financials (eg: approvals). For completeness, the comprehensive A-Z listing within My Manchester also includes links to content within StaffNet.
Following an early release to four Schools and the Directorate of HR back in December, from Wednesday 9 April all University colleagues will access the updated My Manchester by default, via the existing Staff Portal URL (http://my.manchester.ac.uk).
