New way to promote your policy-relevant events
02 Apr 2014
Event organisers can now use the Columba system to promote their policy-relevant events via the Policy@Manchester web site with just a few extra clicks.
Columba is a powerful single point for marketing and promotion of University events to a variety of audiences.
Policy@Manchester’s popular ‘Events’ section will now automatically display any events that are given a special ‘tag’ to show that it will cover an issue or issues relating to public policy.
The decision to move to the Columba system has been made because of the user friendliness of the system, and also other functions such as social media sharing, suggestions for related events, and the ability to add an event to your Calendar with a few clicks.
When adding a relevant event in Columba, organisers should select ‘Policy event’ from the dropdown menu under either ‘Primary Event Series’ or ‘Secondary Event Series’.
Any events tagged in this way will then automatically pull through to the ‘Upcoming Events’ section of the Policy@Manchester site – and importantly, they will disappear automatically once the event date passes.
Access to Columba and relevant training/guidance

Running ‘internal-only’ policy-relevant events?
If you are running events that are not open to external audiences, you are advised to use the Policy@Manchester Listserv (public-policy@listserv.manchester.ac.uk) to disseminate the relevant information.
