‘Realising Your Potential’ is our very first five-day development programme for members of University staff, at all levels, with a disability.

Signing

Aim: To enable disabled colleagues to take more control over their personal and professional lives; to develop resilience to thrive at work; to set and achieve personal goals; and develop as positive role models for others

During the programme participants will:

  • Value and share their own experience and explore their identity;
  • Develop self-esteem, self-confidence, enhanced personal styles and ability to relate to others;
  • Set personal goals and gain benefit from one to one coaching;
  • Develop assertive communication, active listening and project themselves;
  • Work effectively with others: using negotiation methods and handling expectations.

The programme consists of three one-day workshops accompanied by one to one development coaching for each participant. The programme schedule is as follows:

  • Monday, 7 April – Development Workshop
  • Tuesday, 8 April  - Coaching Day
  • Wednesday, 7 May – Development Workshop
  • Thursday, 8 May – Coaching Day
  • Tuesday, 3 June - Development Workshop

Those applying to attend the programme should be able to commit to attendance on each of the days required. Please note on the coaching day participants will attend for a one hour session at a time to be finalised once they have been accepted onto to the programme. As this is our first presentation of the programme, those taking part should be willing to discuss their experience of the programme with members of the E and D office and STDU to help plan any future presentations.

The programme will be facilitated by ResultCIC, who are a specialist Coaching and Development Consultancy with considerable experience in working with disabled and other groups to bring about long lasting positive change and personal growth.

Those wishing to apply should discuss the programme with their line manager and agree their attendance and time out of the workplace.
