Weather damage to campus

Windows were broken at the Simon Building, tiles were blown off the roof of the John Owens Building and coping was damaged on the Jean McFarlane Building; however it is not expected to stop staff working today.

 

"It is business as usual," said Deputy Director of Estates and Facilities Kenny Nolan, who stayed late with his team to investigate the damage last night.

 

High winds across the region saw the Met Office briefly put out a red light warning in Manchester yesterday but downgraded it to amber as the worst of them avoided the city. Homes have been damaged and trees blown down, leading to a major clean up operation this morning.

 

Kenny and his team are continuing to check for any other damage today.
