Box of Broadcasts (BoB) service upgrade
23 Jan 2014
You'll find a wealth of new features on BoB, a shared online TV and radio recording service for educational institutions in the UK.
Media Services provide and administrate the Box of Broadcasts (BoB) service for the University.
BoB enables all staff and students of The University of Manchester to record programmes from over 60 TV and radio channels and view previously recorded content. Content recorded by any member institution can be viewed indefinitely and currently over one million programmes are stored on BoB. Programmes can be recorded or watched as catch-up on and off campus and the service also has the features of being able to create clips of programmes for use in blackboard and the creation of playlists.
BoB received a major upgrade at the beginning of the new year offering a wealth of new features:
- The addition of all BBC TV and radio content dating from 2007 (800,00+programmes)
- Over 10 foreign language channels including French, German and Italian
- An extended 30 day recording buffer – more time to record missed programmes
- A new look website, improved navigation
- Apple IOS compatibility – watch BoB on handheld devices
- Searchable transcripts
- Links to social media – share what you’re watching online
- A one-click citation reference, allowing you to cite programmes in your work
To start using BoB, just go to:
