New Head appointed to Manchester Business School (MBS)

Professor Fiona Devine has been appointed to the role of Head of Manchester Business School (MBS) with effect from 1 January 2014.

Professor Devine took over as Acting Head of Manchester Business School in September from her previous role as Head of the School of Social Sciences (2009-13).

Her research interests are in the fields of social stratification and mobility, work and employment, and politics and participation from a comparative US/UK perspective and she is currently a Fellow of the Center for the Study of Poverty and Inequality, Stanford University, USA and an Honorary Professor in the Institute for Social Sciences at the University of Queensland, Australia. Fiona is also Co-Director of the Centre for Research on Socio-Cultural Change (CRESC) based at The University of Manchester.

Professor Devine has been widely recognised for her work and she was awarded an OBE for Services to Social Sciences in 2010 and elected to the Academy of Social Sciences in 2011.
