Recognising the great work we do
12 Dec 2013
A new recognition scheme is being developed – as a direct result of the feedback you gave in the Staff Survey 2013.
The results of the Staff Survey showed that while 75% of staff felt their manager gave them recognition for work done well, there was still room for improvement when it comes to recognising the achievements of our staff. A recognition scheme proposal was put together by a team led by Karen Heaton, Director of Human Resources, and discussed at the University’s Senior Leadership Team (SLT) in September.
SLT agreed this proposal and work is now underway to develop the scheme - which will be ready to launch early in the New Year. It will feature a range of innovative ways in which staff can say ‘thank you’ to each other for work well done, as well as giving greater freedom to managers to recognise the hard work and achievements of their staff.
Karen Heaton commented: “This is one of the first major pieces of work to take place as a direct result of Staff Survey feedback, and one which will apply to everyone who works at our University. We want to make the scheme simple and quick to use and will be monitoring how it’s used to make sure that all parts of the University are represented.
“A communications campaign is being planned to make sure that all staff know about the scheme and that managers and leaders understand the part they have to play in making it a success,”
More details will be available in January 2014.
