Graphene film wins gold medal

A film telling the story of wonder material graphene has won a gold medal at a prestigious awards ceremony.
'Graphene:MadeinManchester' has won Best Online Film at the 10th Annual Fresh Awards at Salford Quays.
The film tells the story of how graphene was first isolated at the University in 2004 by Sir Andre Geim and Sir Kostya Novoselov, earning them the 2010 Nobel prize for Physics.
Manchester’s pioneering history as a daring city of scientific experimentation is also chronicled, from the Industrial Revolution and splitting the atom to today’s graphene revolution.
Produced and directed by The Gate Films, based in Manchester, the film was funded by the University together with Marketing Manchester and the European Regional Development Fund.
The awards took place at The Imperial War Museum Manchester, with an audience of more than 150 guests joining the celebration.
