Former Greek Prime Minister speaks at University (change of venue)

One of world’s the best known Greek politicians is to speak about the Eurozone crisis at the University on Wednesday, 11 December (5-6.30pm) in Crawford House, Theatre 1.
George Papandreou, former Prime Minister of Greece and President of the Socialist International, will ask how progressive politics can resolve the crisis.
He served as premier following his party's victory in the 2009 elections, but resigned in November 2011 to make way for a national unity government charged with tackling the Greek debt crisis.
Following his grandfather Georgios Papandreou and his father Andreas Papandreou, he was the third member of the Papandreou family to serve as the country's prime minister.
The event, the University’s Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence Annual Lecture, is organised by Professor of Politics Dimitris0 Papadimitriou and will take place at the Roscoe Building, Theatre B, University of Manchester.
Professor Papadimitriou said: “We’re delighted and honoured to host George Papandreou, one of the most influential European politicians in recent years.
“His insight into the Eurozone crisis and how to resolve it will be fascinating and relevant to anyone who takes an interest in the world around them.”
