Kevin O’Brien is making a difference

I’m working to improve children’s lives through dental research
I carry out research that is aimed at improving the medical and dental care of children with visible facial deformity and hope that we are improving their lives.
I have also recently completed a term as Chair of the General Dental Council and made many changes to help the public and profession. The one that pleased me the most was that we changed the rules on access to dental care. We made new rules that allow a person to see a dental hygienist or therapist without seeing a dentist first. This made the UK one of the first countries in the World to allow this method of delivery of care and it will make it easier for people to obtain dental care in the future.
