First steps taken towards a new performance and development review system

University-wide review gets going following your feedback from the Staff Survey
The Staff Survey carried out earlier in 2013 revealed that only 64% of respondents had taken part in an individual performance and development or probation review in the previous 12 months.
As a result of feedback from right across the University, performance and development review (P&DR) was picked up as one of the four University-wide themes.
A review group has been set up and is being led by Professor Martin Humphries, Vice-President and Dean of the Faculty of Life Sciences and Karen Heaton, Director of Human Resources.
The group has met several times already and has developed a project plan outlining the steps which need to be taken to develop and launch a new P&DR system for all staff across the University. The overall aim is to provide a system which results in positive discussions around personal work experiences and future career development.
Work is currently underway to develop a new model which will be tailored for different job groups to make it easier to use and more relevant to the different types of jobs which people do across the University.
Regular updates will be available to staff throughout the project.
