We take a look at how the University protects its staff and students.
The University’s Security Services provide a 24 hour security presence across all of our campuses, address and develop measures aimed at crime reduction and manage access control systems.
As a result, our campus is generally a very safe place to be, but you do need to take common sense security precautions.

It’s important to understand that the majority of offences that occur at the University could have been prevented. You can have a major influence on this crime type merely by looking after your belongings.

If the worst happens, our Security Officers are ready and equipped to offer you help in a wide range of situations: their training includes first aid, conflict resolution, customer care, fire safety and risk assessment.
University Security Manager, Gary Rowe, advises: “It’s crucial that you contact Security as soon as possible if you witness either an incident or someone acting suspiciously.
“Call 0161 306 9966 - the number is printed on the back of your staff card. This will allow us to send a security patrol and view the CCTV in that area to help with any problems.”
