Help create Manchester's first Crochet Coral Reef

A visual highlight of the new Coral: Something Rich and Strange exhibition, and the main focal point for the project’s public participation activities, will be a community art project to create Manchester’s Crochet Coral Reef.

Founded by the Institute For Figuring in Los Angeles, the Crochet Coral Reef initiative is described by its originators as, ‘a unique fusion of art, science, mathematics, handicraft and community practice’.

In Manchester, we will undertake a city-wide satellite reef project which will bring together participants from across the city who have an interest in art, craft and conservation.

It will continue to be augmented over the lifetime of the exhibition, as more workshops are held and new visitors who encounter the work are inspired to create their own contribution to the ever-evolving reef.

You can help us to make Manchester's first Crochet Coral Reef!

Sessions: Saturday 9 and Sunday 17 November, Sunday 1 December 1-4.30pm. With Lucy Burscough - Join the facebook page for more information on the workshops.
