Platforma Festival: Arts and Refugees Network
29 Oct 2013
The Platforma arts and refugees network presents a two-day conference looking at refugees and the arts, plus two evenings of live performances. The second national Platforma Festival, to be held at the Martin Harris Centre 31 October 2013 - 1 November 2013 will bring together artists, academics and arts practitioners from across the UK and the world.
The Platforma Festival, in conjunction with Community Arts Northwest, will explore issues related to arts by and about refugees. Two nights of performances will showcase work across a range of art forms by refugees and those interested in refugee experiences.
Conference workshops will include sessions on: arts projects with young refugees; live art, oral histories; creative writing; silence in therapy and the arts; migrant story slams; the host-guest dynamics of participatory practice. Plus, each day will include a range of performances, presentations and discussions.
