Book now for Manchester Policy Week

11 Oct 2013

Bookings are now open for a range of free events being held as part of Manchester Policy Week

Running from 28 October to 1 November, the week includes seminars and workshops run by researchers from across the University, complemented by keynote events featuring high-profile figures and policy influencers.

Events will examine, among other things, how local policy can help migrants in Manchester feel welcome, implications for ageing on transport planning, young men as perpetrators of domestic abuse and whether current changes to public health policy represent a new dawn or a poisoned chalice.

The New Researchers Network – for early career researchers and postgraduate research students – is also holding a special event called ‘Speaking the Unbelievable Truth’ on Monday 28 October.

A Battle of the Think Tanks keynote event will be held on 29 October, exploring the shape of government post-austerity, with IPPR North, Resolution Foundation, Centre for Social Justice and Equality Trust all due to contribute.

All events are free – although booking is usually required – and all interested staff and students are welcome to attend.

The Policy@Manchester initiative aims to showcase the contribution of Manchester academics to public policy. It seeks to do this through events, facilitating networking opportunities, and providing resources and support to colleagues seeking greater policy influence and engagement for their work.
