University wins five Athena SWAN Awards

Now eight Schools carry honour for their commitment to the recruitment, retention and progression of women
The Schools of Chemistry, Dentistry, Psychological Sciences, Nursing, Midwifery and Social Work and Medicine – which includes six Institutes and Manchester Medical School – have been presented with Athena SWAN Awards.
The awards, funded by the Equality Challenge Unit, the Royal Society, the Biochemical Society and the Department of Health, recognise and celebrate good practice in recruiting, retaining and promoting women in science, technology, engineering, mathematics and medicine (STEMM) in higher education.
This latest win takes the University’s total to eight Schools, three with Silver awards and five with Bronze.
