Update of The Manchester Welcome
13 Sep 2013
Further materials and information are being made available for our new students over the Manchester Welcome Period
Crucial Guide: Welcome to Manchester
The second of a two-part Crucial Guide, Welcome to Manchester gives students essential information they need when arrive in Manchester. It focuses on the vital processes they need to complete during their first weeks, signposting to the most important support services, as well as useful details on other major student concerns, such as registering for a GP, staying safe, and settling into accommodation.
The guides will be distributed by Schools and programmes through induction packs, but an online version can be found at:
What’s On Guide
The What’s on Guide has been produced in partnership with the Students’ Union to help students make the most of the huge number of events and information sessions during the Manchester Welcome 2013. The guide will be available at “askme” and other information points throughout the Welcome period, but an online version can be found at:

Open training support workshops in Alan Gilbert Learning Commons
Last year, AGLC piloted a semester of open training support workshops. This year, that work is continuing and joining up with a new suite of innovative online resources and the already strong workshops delivered at the Main Library to come under the heading of "My Learning Essentials." This structure, with its flexibility and emphasis on the student's ability to take what is needed when they need it, should make a positive impact on the student experience at Manchester.
The website is now live at:
The first workshops will start during the third week of term.
Please have a look round and let the AGLC know what you think. Are there some gaps in support you think would suit the My Learning Essentials?
