High Voltage Laboratory Open Day celebrates a decade of research

The University and the National Grid invite you to a showcase of past and future research on 12 September.

High Voltage Laboratory

In 2003, National Grid and the University entered into a partnership that has delivered a wide range of research and development projects over the last ten years, many of which have used the facilities of the unique high voltage facility that is capable of testing equipment designed for the 400kV power system.

The partnership has seen academic researchers work closely with National Grid engineers on a range of Innovation Funding Incentive (IFI) projects covering topics such as HVDC, protection and control, transformers, overhead lines, health and safety, climate change and more recently gas transmission networks.

Starting at 9am, the High Voltage labs will open for visits by staff and students of the University and there will be opportunities to meet with National Grid staff and explore whether the work you do would have application in their business.
