Hundreds attend our national healthcare conference
25 Jul 2013
Four hundred people, from researchers, students and health professionals to anyone with an interest in issues that affect the community’s wellbeing, gathered at the University for the second Festival of Public Health UK.
Dr Arpana Verma, who leads the Manchester Urban Collaboration on Health department, developed the Festival in conjunction with others at the Institute of Population Health and supported by Professor Kevin Ward at University research network cities@manchester Professor Ian Jacobs, Dean of the Faculty of Medical and Human Sciences and Director of the Manchester Academic Health Science Centre (MAHSC).
With plenary lectures by Sir Liam Donaldson, Alex Ross and David Colquhoun, it was an enormous success and enjoyed a lot of positive feedback.
The Festival also saw the launch of the 11th International Conference on Urban Health, which will be held in Manchester 4-7 March 2014 and is expected to raise considerable revenue and greatly enhance the international profile of both the University and the City as a whole.
