Brush up your knowledge of the campus
18 Jul 2013
Join a campus tour designed to help you answer questions from new students during the Manchester Welcome period.
- Where is the Schuster Building?
- How do I get to the Student Services Centre?
- Which building is Sociology based in?
If a student approached you during the Manchester Welcome period and asked you for directions to a campus location, are you confident that you could help them?
If not, then a campus tour is just the thing for you!
You can join a tour on any Tuesday (12.30-1.30pm) between now and the end of August. There's no need to book - just turn up outside the Manchester Museum on any of the following dates:
- Tuesday, 23 July
- Tuesday, 30 July – North Campus
- Tuesday, 6 August
- Tuesday, 13 August – North Campus
- Tuesday, 20 August
- Tuesday, 27 August – North Campus
The tours are run by volunteers and will last no more than an hour. If you come along, you'll not only broaden your knowledge of the University, but also get some light exercise! Each tour will go ahead, come rain or shine, so it may be worth bringing your umbrella!
You’ll be shown around the main buildings at the University and given some general information on their history and which Schools are based in them.
Whether you've worked at the University for two weeks or 10 years, you'll find that the tour will help you to feel more confident about directing students around the University.
Last year, around 150 members of staff signed up for the sessions and 80% of respondents to the post-tour survey said they would recommend them to others.
One participant said: “The tour and the guide were excellent, full of information and very useful. They really helped me to get my bearings.”
