11 Jul 2013
Cath Davies from the School of Earth, Atmospheric and Environmental Sciences has received commendations from the NUS and the S-Lab Awards.
Cath, who is Senior Research Technician in the School, has been highly commended in the NUS's Green Impact Universities and Colleges Special Awards 2013 for her work with four laboratories in Williamson Building this year. During the same period, she also led the School’s Green Impact team, coordinating five different teams in total.
Cath received her award - in The Ecologist Environmental Hero category - at the NUS Roundtable event held at our Students' Union on 4 June. More than 100 sustainability officers from around the country gathered in Manchester to provide feedback on this year’s student and staff projects, and to celebrate environmental heroes, innovations and Green Impact actions and efforts nationwide.
Cath's efforts have also been recognised by the committee of the national S-Lab (Safe, Successful, Sustainable Laboratories) Awards: she was shortlisted for the Higher Education Academy Award for Physical Sciences Technician of the Year for her work in the past year.
