UMSA
The University of Manchester Staff Association (UMSA) is the Social Club for all members of staff of The University. It has membership fee of only £1 per month and can be deducted from your salary.
With your membership you can benefit from discounted tickets for the theatre and group trips to some of England's Family attractions. For more details, see:
One of the popular courses is Yoga, which is a system that encourages the wellbeing of the whole person. Classes reflect this purpose and are adapted to suit all abilities. The class focuses work on specific areas of the body that are affected by sitting at a desk, work stress, and general aches and pains. Breathing techniques are taught to enable you to release stress in the mind. Karon has been teaching yoga for 10 years and is a member of the BWY (British Wheel of Yoga). Come and enjoy an hour of peace and quiet during your busy day.
Classes take place on Tuesdays (12pm to 1pm) in the UMSA activity room, Dover Street Building. Cost: UMSA members £4 / non-members £4.50.

The random bit!
A steam train buff (who wishes to remain anonymous!) wants to share the celebrations to mark the 75th anniversary of when the Mallard broke the world speed record for steam in 1938. I suspect there is more than one train enthusiast at the University! Now is the time to dust off your anorak and visit the Railway Museum in York … Choo choo!
By the way, the Manchester International Festival starts on 4 July! Mikhail Baryshnikov, Willem Dafoe, Sir Kenneth Branagh, Alex Kingston and Maxine Peake are all in town! Don’t mention the Scottish play!
