Cycle to Work event – new beginnings
26 Jun 2013
Many, many thanks to the 500+ who came along and supported the Annual Cycle Event last Thursday. Hope you enjoyed it!
The wheels keep on turning and next up is July’s Cycle to Work Breakfast on Wednesday, 3 July.
MMU will host in the Business School and Student Hub refectory (number 3 on the All Saints campus map, same place as ACE!) from 8.15am to 9am.
Find a Buddy, be a Buddy!
Building on the success of the Guided Routes which have run since 2008, the Corridor partners, with huge support from UMBUG volunteers, are moving towards a more flexible approach:
Based on feedback, some potential and new cyclists found the first Wednesday rides at set times too restrictive and the admin was time-consuming! (Please note: many of these rides will continue under their own steam.)
To cater for differing working days, times and to and from journeys the new Buddy scheme is under development.
The idea is simple:
- Regular cyclists offer to support new and potential cyclists in their area (this may be as simple as a quick question or a ride together at a time and place that suits);
- A list of those offering help is produced that makes it easy for them to be contacted.
The website is under development and we have lots of kind offers to help from ACE which we haven’t had chance to input yet. However, do take a look at how things are shaping up and any feedback welcome.
See if there is someone in your neighbourhood and keep coming back for regular updates!
Let us know if you can help: if you would be happy to act as a Buddy (particularly in North Manchester!), complete the sign up at:
See you Wednesday!
