Manchester Business School volunteers create spring garden
24 May 2013
Members of Manchester Business School’s Marketing, Communications and Recruitment Team dusted off their wellies to support Business in the Community recently.
They worked on a garden at the local Platt Fields Park to prepare it for spring planting and to ensure it is an enjoyable place to visit over the summer months.
The Team is relatively new in terms of structure and identified that a team building day would help colleagues get to know each other and help to facilitate more integrated working. Business in the Community runs projects that facilitate this kind of project as well as allowing people to give something back to the local community.
Team member Liz Wiggett said: “We worked with Business in the Community to identify a suitable project. We wanted to work in small teams on different types of activities and to keep the work varied. We also wanted to support a local project where we could see we’d made a tangible difference in the time we spent there.”
On the day the Team took on a range of tasks – turning over flower beds, clearing litter, cutting back ivy, removing rubble and scraping moss from the paths.
