Victoria Baths tour makes a big splash
23 May 2013
Members of the campus walking group enjoyed a tour of "Manchester's Water Palace" on Friday, 17 May.
Victoria Baths is widely recognised at Britain’s finest historic municipal swimming pool. In 2003 it was voted as the building BBC2 viewers most wanted to see restored.
As a result, the front block of the building has been restored externally and visitors can view its many decorative features – stained glass windows, mosaic floors, glass block paving and the Turkish Baths suite, as well as the three pool halls.
Everyone who attended was stunned by the incredible beauty of the building and the stained glass windows, and also by the fascinating social history insights from the tour guide.

The campus walking group will be holding more events in the future. Group guided walks are a great way to explore our campus and get some gentle (free) exercise at the same time.
The group usually meets on Wednesdays at 12.30pm and on Fridays at 12 noon at the Dover Street building and everyone is always made very welcome!
