Gearing up for the Great Manchester Run
21 May 2013
Colleagues from the Communications and Marketing Division and Manchester University Press are getting ready to run 10K on 26 May to raise money for three great causes.
A recent recruit to running, Mike Addelman, Media Relations Officer for the Faculty of Humanities, is taking part in Sunday's 10k Bupa Great Manchester Run to raise money for Crohn’s and Colitis UK. This excellent charity funds research into inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), as well as providing amazing support services.
IBD sufferers include MUFC footballer Darren Fletcher, TV presenter Carrie Grant, comedian Stewart Lee – and Mike’s ten-year-old son, Jake, who was diagnosed at three. Jake has been in and out of hospital for most of his life, takes 12 pills every day and has an intravenous infusion every two months.
Mike has already raised hearly £1,200 for his cause so far. If you’d like to add your support, go to:
Members of staff at Manchester University Press will be running in memory of their colleague Reena Jugnarain, who lost her battle with cancer in November 2012 at the age of 33.
Reena's colleagues have raised over £5,700 for The Christie and Cancer Research UK to date and they’d really appreciate your help in increasing their total.

We'll be catching up with Mike and the MUP team next week to find out how they got on. If anyone else out there is running on Sunday, why not share your story at:
