Multi-Faith Prayer and Contemplation Space (Main Library)
As part of the Library’s commitment to inclusivity and belonging, there is a Staff Multi-Faith Prayer and Contemplation Space in Main Library.
The space is located in Red 3.4, and can be used for prayer, contemplation, and meditation.
The Library is dedicated to ensuring that everyone feels a sense of belonging within this space. Whether for personal reflection or worship, all are welcome to utilise the facilities with respect for others' practices.
About the space
The room has been equipped with chairs, prayer mats, reusable shoe covers, and a PC with a headset for online worship. To maintain the sanctity and cleanliness of the room, the Library’s EDI Team have created guidance for using this space:
Please ensure you read this guidance before using the room; a copy of the guidance is also available in the room. The room will be cleaned on a weekly basis, but users are encouraged to report any issues promptly to the Library EDI team.
The prayer room operates during regular Main Library hours; to access the room, please use the door code provided in the guidance.
Your feedback
As part of a year-long pilot, feedback on the space is actively encouraged and can be provided through a QR code in the room or via an online form. This feedback will be instrumental in refining the space and potentially informing future developments.
For further information or assistance, please reach out to a member of the Library EDI team.
