Looking after our Library spaces
Main Library and all site libraries
The Library works closely with teams such as Estates and House Services to support the management of Library spaces, buildings and facilities. This includes daily communication on issues, regular meetings to track progress of works and the planning of other tasks as and when required.
Major works are coordinated by Library managers and members of the Leadership Team and where there are impacts on services users will be updated via the normal channels. Customer Service Co-ordinators in multiple occupancy buildings (eg Stopford Library) liaise with Faculty Estates officers and Building Superintendents when issues arise.

House Services
House Services provide internal cleaning and associated services for all Library sites. The operation is diverse and covers other tasks such as furniture relocation, portering, postal services and room set ups as well as working with contractors such as window cleaning companies. The Main Library has a dedicated House Services team who work directly with Library staff.
Faculty Estates
The Faculty Estates Team look after all library sites on a day-to-day basis, providing advice and assistance on works ranging from the changing of light bulbs to the development of multi-million pound facilities. The team has a number of roles including long-term maintenance, landscaping, energy use, minor repairs, decoration and engineering maintenance.
John Rylands Research Institute and Library
The John Rylands Research Institute and Library facilities team is responsible for a variety of tasks in the building such as maintenance, cleaning, repairs, portering and security. The team works with a wide range of people to ensure all work is well planned, communicated and managed well. A range of contractors liaise with the facilities team to carry out important tasks such as bronze cleaning, AV equipment hire, alarm maintenance, specialist moves, pest control and washroom hygiene.
