Liability cover
Liability cover
If insurance cover for legal liabilities is conditional on the University accepting liabilities under the contract that it would not have without the existence of the contract, care should be taken in respect of contracts that include clauses to this effect.
Employers' liability
The University has Employers' Liability insurance as required by law.
This provides protection in respect of the University's legal liability for bodily injury or disease, and the loss of, or damage to, property arising out of the acts or omissions of the University.
Cover extends to anyone working for the University (excluding external contractor, employees of external contractors or the self-employed) but including academic visitors, people on work experience placements and voluntary workers at the University.
Limit of liability: £50,000,000 any one claim
Public liability
The Public Liability insurance provides protection in respect of the University's legal liability for bodily injury or disease and the loss of, or damage to, property arising out of the acts or omissions of the University.
Cover extends to third parties generally including University's students.
Limit of liability: £50,000,000 any one claim
Products liability
The Products Liability insurance provides protection in respect of the University's legal liability for bodily injury or disease and the loss of, or damage to, property arising out of the acts or omissions of the University relating to products developed or supplied by the University.
Limit of liability: £50,000,000 any one claim
