Appeals, complaints and discipline

The University of Manchester is committed to transparent and fair procedures in handling and responding to academic appeals, student complaints, and the conduct and discipline of students.

• The Faculty of Humanities Appeals, Complaints and Discipline Team is responsible for all Stage 2 (Humanities) appeals, complaints and student discipline (academic malpractice) cases. The Humanities ACD team can be contacted on humappealsandcomplaints@manchester.ac.uk
• The area of academic appeals and student complaints is overseen by the Teaching and Learning Delivery team (in the Division of Student and Academic Services). The ACD team can be contacted on appealsandcomplaints@manchester.ac.uk
• Conduct and discipline of students is overseen by the Advice and Response Team (in the Division of Campus Life). This team can be contacted on conductanddiscipline@manchester.ac.uk

Academic appeals and complaints operate in three stages:

• Stage One (local to the School or Department)
• Stage Two (the formal stage at Faculty level)
• Stage Three (a final review stage by the)

 If students remain dissatisfied when internal processes are complete they may be eligible to complain to the Office of the Independent Adjudicator (OIA).
